About
Chestnut Close
The name El Noveno Castaño, The Ninth Chestnut, tells the story of this development. In the 1600s, eight Spanish sweet chestnut trees were planted on nearby Chipperfield Common for Isabel of Castile, first Duchess of York and wife of Edmund Langley, who lived at the nearby Royal Palace of Kings Langley. Those eight trees still stand on the common today. Aldenham Residential named this development of nine homes as a tribute to that heritage, establishing the site as the ninth gem of Chipperfield and continuing a story that stretches back over four centuries.
