Bovingdon is a pretty village in Hertfordshire, full of character, with a long history as a farming area. It is approximately four miles south-west of Hemel Hempstead and eight miles from Watford.
Bovingdon has a lively high street with a number of local shops, a library and memorial hall and two popular pubs. There are also two churches and a primary school. Leisure facilities include football pitches, a bowling green and a local tennis club.
Bovingdon Market is one of the busiest Saturday markets in the country. 400 stalls sell a huge variety of goods – fashion, fresh produce, carpets and rugs, toiletries, computer accessories, fabrics and haberdashery, tools for every job and food to suit all tastes.
The village roads are bordered by an appealing mix of fields, gardens and woodland and there is an extensive network of footpaths and bridleways.
Fortunately, the village has maintained its rural feel while also benefiting from the proximity to Hemel Hempstead and Watford with their shopping centres and facilities.
In addition to the village primary school, there is a good choice of both state and private primary and secondary schools in the catchment area.
Bovingdon is approximately 10 miles from the M25 offering excellent access to motorway networks, and approximately 27 miles from Heathrow airport.
Hemel Hempstead is the closest mainline station and offers a regular service to Euston.
