Location
Codicote is a charming village around seven miles south of Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
Part of its charm lies in the existence of over 70 listed buildings in the village, many of which have blue plaques outlining the property’s history. Just two examples are 17th and 18th century buildings such as the Pond House and Codicote Lodge, and the parish church of St Giles which retains 13th century work in its nave and aisles.
Codicote boasts a number of leisure facilities including football pitches, tennis courts and a cricket wicket. There is also a sports hall which provides a variety of indoor leisure activities such as basketball and bowls.
The village is also well served by several 4/5* rated restaurants including The Globe and The Goat Inn.
There is an annual, one day festival that starts with a parade and offers a programme of events and a variety of stalls and attractions.
There are two primary schools in the village with a mix of both state and private
secondary schools in the nearby towns.
Transport
Codicote is situated on the B656 just over three miles NW of Welwyn Garden City which benefits from excellent transport links.
There are two, and sometimes three, trains every hour to Kings Cross – with the fast train taking only 26 minutes travelling time.
There are also regular trains to Moorgate, which is a 40 minute journey and trains to Stevenage are a short 10 minute hop.
It is approximately eight miles from both St Albans and Luton both of which offer frequent and fast train services into London St Pancras
Luton and Stansted airports are both within comfortable travelling distance.
